Out-of-towners and our car wouldn't start after a dinner out and we called Pugh's the next morning when they opened at 8:00 am. The tow truck arrived before 9:00, delivered the car back to their service department. We received a call from Steve within 30 minutes regarding the problem, and it turned out to be a 'computer' issue. Didn't know that a broken key wouldn't be recognized by the car!!! But they did!! Steve was able to fix the key and get the car running again by 11:00, start to finish. We were extremely relieved! Thanks Steve for your prompt and accurate attention!

Glad we could get you back on the road. Thanks

My husband and I were visiting Nags Head on vacation, and during our trip our check engine light came on. We called Pugh's when they opened and were told to bring the car in. We arrived around 8:45AM, and were back on our way at 9:30. The mechanic, Steve, even brought us out to the lift to show the exact parts that were causing the light to come on, what we should do when getting back home (Pennsylvania) and other concerns such as a semi-bald tire. We waited in their back room while the diagnostics were being run. Overall, a much better experience than we had hoped for, under the circumstances. Glad we stopped in to get some peace of mind. $61 for the check engine diagnostic (tax/labor included).

Glad we could help you, Thanks.

I'm sitting in the shop as I type this and wouldn't feel right leaving without giving these guys a good review. Last night I noticed my tires were dry rotted pretty bad and the sidewalk was starting to come apart. I called when they opened this morning and it worked out that they had 4 tires in the size I need and could get me right in. 3 tires seemed to come off fine but the 4th was rusted on to the point they had to use heat. Now I know that things like this come with the territory but the efforts they went through is way outside of a normal day to day tire change. At the end 3 studs broke and the lugs needed to be replaced but I am happy with the effort they showed to get the job complete and get it done right. Also as for the cost of tires. They were within $3 out the door of a local "big name" competitor. Raymond maintained patience and professionalism and for that I am beyond grateful. On the road and feeling safe again. Thank you Ray and Ken. I know it was a pain but you guys rock and I very much appreciate it!!

Thanks for the kind words. Some cars can be a challenge, but we got you back on the road.

They were excellent, and very, very nice to me. Really, they were a godsend while I was on vacation. I was run off the road while visiting Nags Head--ended up with a bunch of sand inside my hubcaps, which stay stuck to the wheel unless the nuts are removed. Even if I had had the tools with me, recent spinal surgery would have prevented me from removing them and cleaning the sand out. It's a minor thing maybe, but meant the difference between being able to drive 40mph and 70mph when I drove back to Atlanta.

Brought my car here after my A/C died last last 3 hours of our trip. They looked it over the next day (no appointment) and suggested that it likely just froze up. They didn't fix what wasn't broken, which was a relief. Highly recommend for an honest assessment.

I have been a satisfied customer of Pugh's Car Care in Nags Head for five years. We have three old varied vehicles: 2004 Lexus RX330, 2004 Born Free Built for Two RV (on a Ford F-350 chasis), and a 1999 Chevy S-10 pickup. Pugh's has serviced all three for various things from oil changes and tires to more complex problems. I have been impressed with the knowledge of the staff, including Charlene at the front desk. Never had a problem with lack of information provided by staff, including accurate estimates of costs. Last time I was there met another satisfied customer of 15 years service who comes from Rodanthe, which is not right next door. I guess most folks who are not satisfied are more likely to write reviews. Satisfied ones just take the excellent work for granted. When I saw the mostly negative reviews I decided to write this review. They are very busy, so I suggest you make an appointment for your vehicle, unless it is an unexpected emergency situation.

Thanks for the kind words. We try our best to help everyone in a timely manner. A few of our customers get very upset that we can't get to them expeditiously. All we can do is our best.

After seeing some bad reviews I had to post my wonderful experience! Driving down for vacation my 12yo Durango kept over heating. Assuming it was a bad radiator I took to Pugh for replacement. Ken the mechanic was terrific...explained and showed me that it wasn't the radiator but the water pump and thermostat. He never spoke "down" to me...or made me feel like a dumb single female..(as other mechanics have in the past). He respected my questions...gave me honest answers and was able to complete the job within the time frame he stated. It truly sucks to have your car break down on the way to your vacation destination but I'm glad I was able to find a decent, honest, reliable place to get It fixed. I feel totally confident in the work that was done and now don't have to worry about the 350 mile trip home!

Thanks for the kind words. We do our best to get everyone back on the road as quick as possible.

I had issues with my van while traveling back from Avon to Pennsylvania. I stopped at Pugh's with my two young sons. It was 11:30am on a Saturday and they closed at noon. They were able to diagnose and fix it within an hour - even staying late to fix it. The price was very reasonable.

We always try to help our visitors when possible. Thanks

While visiting the Outer Banks of North Carolina, our family vehicle broke down. AAA referred us to Pugh's Car Care Center, for towing. I decided to have them look the ailing vehicle over, and to let us know what needed to be done. They were honest with me, made recommendations, and charged me fairly. No one far from home could ask for anything more. If that weren't enough, they were always accessible, professional and courteous. If I ever need auto care while at the Outer Banks, I'd call them.
